We have implemented solar power-generating stations to power our tilapia and koi ponds. We also use solar for fans, and other equipment to keep our chickens comfortable.
The Ranch has also introduced wind power to its energy portfolio. In our case, power captured from wind is used to power pumps and aerators around our ponds.
We collect rainwater in two 400-gallon cisterns and have a pump hooked up so we can water our citrus trees and gardens as needed.
Where appropriate, we divert food and leftovers to the chickens for their consumption.
With all of the food and plant waste we go through, where possible, we compost green and brown organic material. Sometimes the chickens get to it first though!
